Synopsis
The movie tells the story of two sets of close friends. Surya (Darshan) and Adhi (Audithya). Surya is poor – he is a car mechanic. Adhi is the son of a very rich man, Raghurama Rao (Rangayana Raghu), who cannot bear to have anyone near him, nor be touched by anyone of inferior status. His brother-in-law (Sadhu Kokila) lives with him, having promised his wife, before she died, that he would live with her brother, and look after him.
The girls who are close friends are Lakshmi (Lakshmi Rai), and Sindhu (Sindhu Tholani). Sindhu is poor. Lakshmi is the daughter of a very rich man, Rajeev Kumar. Rajeev thinks that the poor should be removed. Rajeev orders his brother out of the house, as the brother’s daughter has just married their driver’s son.
By chance the two fathers, who were once good friends, meet for the first time for twenty years. Raghu tells his friend he is looking for a girl to marry his son. Rajeev, known as Gundu tells Raghu about his brother’s daughter’s wedding. They wonder how this can be prevented, and go to a crooked lawyer for advice. He tells them to use subterfuge to get their respective son and daughter to sign two marriage certificates, and to register it – then they cannot get married to anyone else. Then they have the idea that they will get Adhi and Lakshmi to both sign the same certificate, so that they will be married to each other.
One day Adhi is driving, and crashes into a parked jeep, his attention having been distracted by the sunlight reflected in a parcel held by Sindhu, then by Sindhu herself. The jeep belongs to Lakshmi, who is absolutely furious, and demands compensation, which they pay, after arguments between Surya and Lakshmi.
Later they meet in a shop, and Adhi and Sindhu are obviously attracted to each other, whilst Surya and Lakshmi obviously hate each other! However, through a series of events, that hatred slowly turns to love.
So now rich boy loves poor girl, and wants to marry her: and rich girl loves poor boy, and wants to marry him. But the fathers will not tolerate this, and go to extraordinary and extremely devious lengths to prevent these marriages, and to get rich boy married to poor girl. Will the two fathers be successful, or will love win.

Review
I enjoyed this film, despite one drawback. It did not get altogether good reviews. Darshan (as Surya) is always good, and his performance in this film is no exception. Audithya (as Adhi) is also very good. The screen chemistry between these two friends is excellent. I thought the two girls, Lakshmi Rai and Sindhu Tolani, were also convincing in their roles, and as friends. Lakshmi Rai had the role of someone who hated Surya, and who afterwards fell in love with him – this she did very well. Rangayana Raghu and the other father were also very good, and very convincing, especially when they were trying to convince the young lovers of something that was not true. Sadhu Kokila was also excellent, this time playing a relatively straight role, with hints of comedy at times: he is another very talented actor, both when required to be serious, and when required to be funny.

I mentioned one drawback. That drawback was the song and dance routines. The songs were good, with lovely music, the choreography was good, and the foreign locations were in Innsbruck, and the mountains and countryside of Austria, and also the famous Swarowski fountain – near Innsbruck: these same locations were used subsequently in the 2010 Kannada film “Boss”, another Darshan film worth watching, as is this one.

So what was the drawback about the song and dance routines? They were not subtitled. I have watched many Kannada films, and this is only one of two that I have seen where the songs are not subtitled. The songs are an important and integral part of the film, and if the viewer does not understand them, he or she misses a lot. If you can follow the Kannada language, the film deserves 5 stars: if not, 4 stars.
