'Ijjodu' is a movie for a class audience. Veteran director M S Sathyu has brought to the big screen the theme `parampare viruddha adhunikathe' (tradition versus modernism) through a story that highlights the devadasi system. With a crisp script and tidy narration, the director brings the story close to the audience's heart.

Plot
The story revolves around Anand (Aniruddh), a photo-journalist from the city who comes to a village to photograph temples. A man with modern thoughts, Anand meets Chenni (Meera Jasmine), the daughter of Bhyrappa (Ramakrishna), the village head. Being a devadasi, Chenni offers to sleep with him, but Anand resists, saying the devadasi is an ancient system and she is being used by the people. Will Chenni be able to digest his modern views?
A different story forms the other part of the film. Kempi (Arundhati Jatkar) marries Venkatesh (Nagakiran) when her husband Balarama (Sathya), an Armyman, does not return after a war. Will she live happy ever after with her second husband? Watch the movie.
