Plot

Kali (Rajinikanth) is a winch operator at a power plant who is fiercely independent, proud, and hot-tempered. His world revolves around his younger sister, Valli (Shoba), whom he loves dearly. When a new engineer, Kumaran (Sarath Babu), arrives, he and Kali clash over Kali's lack of discipline and arrogance. Following an accident where Kali loses his left arm and subsequently his job, his resentment towards Kumaran grows. Matters complicate when Kumaran falls in love with Valli. The film explores the conflict between Kali's massive ego and his love for his sister as he vehemently opposes the union despite Valli's feelings.
