Plot
Anandan (Mohanlal), a struggling actor seeking a break in the film industry, meets Tamizhselvan (Prakash Raj), a writer and grassroots political activist. Impressed by Tamizhselvan's ideology, Anandan joins his party. As Anandan rises to become a matinee idol and the charismatic face of the party, Tamizhselvan becomes its intellectual backbone. Their combined force leads the party to power. However, following the death of their mentor, a rift develops between the two friends as they find themselves on opposite sides of a power struggle for the Chief Minister's chair. The film is a semi-fictionalized account of the political history of Tamil Nadu.
