Plot
Pandian (Kamal Haasan) is a dance master who is separated from his wife Janaki (Meena) due to misunderstandings orchestrated by her wealthy father (Gemini Ganesan). When Pandian is denied visitation rights to his daughter, he hatches a plan with the help of his makeup artist friend (Nagesh). He transforms himself into an elderly Brahmin woman named Avvai Shanmughi and secures the job of a nanny in Janaki's house. Hilarious chaos ensues as Pandian struggles to maintain his disguise while fending off amorous advances from his father-in-law and trying to win back his wife's trust without revealing his true identity.
