Plot

Gopanna (Nagarjuna) is a happy-go-lucky guy, married to his childhood love Kamala (Sneha). He is the nephew of Akkannna and Madanna, the administrative heads in the court of Nawab Abul Hussan shah known as ' Taneshah ' of Golkonda and was appointed by him as Tahsildar of ' Palvoncha Paragana '.

On a chance visit to Bhadrachalam, he gets overwhelmed by the devotion shown by a tribal woman Dammakka towards Lord Rama. He instantly becomes a fervent devotee of Lord Rama . He despairs at the sight of idols of the deities lay unsheltered and vows to build a temple for the Lord right there. Gopanna then raises money from the villagers for the construction of the temple He earns the title Sri Ramadasu in the process.

However Sri Ramadaasu is accused of mis-utilisation of revenue for constructing the temple and is jailed for 12 long years in Golkonda Fort and gets tortured. While in jail Ramadas implores Lord Rama to relieve him, by singing many hymns and keertans in the Lords' praise. How the Tanishah realizes the greatness of Ramadasu and how Almighty Rama, himself secures the release of his devotee from the prison forms the crux. Even as he is released Sri Ramadasu is still miffed with the Lord.
