She then earned her collegiate at St. Joseph's College of Commerce, Bangalore. Ramya participated in stage shows and dance rehearsals from her grade school days. Along with her mother tongue Kannada, she is able to read and write Tamil. She had acted in both in Kannada and Tamil films, She was also called as Kuthu Ramya in Tamil films
